intimate weddings

Over the last few years, smaller or more intimate weddings have become a popular option for couples who don’t want the pressure, stress and financial burden of a more traditional wedding. The pandemic made a lot of couples re-evaluate their priorities. Did they want to wait until they could invite everyone they knew to their wedding, or did they just want to get married to the person they love even if they couldn’t invite people to witness it?

There are 3 main types of intimate wedding - elopements, micro weddings and small weddings. But what’s the difference?

elopement

An elopement generally describes a ceremony with just the happy couple and maybe 2 witnesses.

micro wedding

A micro wedding is a very small and intimate occasion with just the very closest family members or best friends in attendance. Micro weddings are normally up to around 25 people.

small wedding

A small wedding means you can invite a few more people to your happy occasion but keeping it small means you can focus on inviting on the people you care most about. Small weddings are usually between 25 to 50 people.

why choose an intimate wedding?

Instead of worrying about the seating plan, the flowers or the music the DJ is going to play, an intimate wedding is all about you and your partner. Yes, there may be other people there, but the day is so much more relaxed and you can spend far more time with the person you just married. When you have a large wedding it’s often the case that you end up spending a lot of your day talking to friends or family you might not have seen for months or even years.

An intimate wedding means you can still have your cake (and eat it) and flowers and a banging dress, but you can save on the stress of having to please the dietary requirements of 150 other guests and not have to consider the politics of seating plans.  Since you’re planning an intimate wedding, you have more creative freedom to do whatever you both want on that day. And that goes for your wedding film too!

I get invited to collaborate on a lot of wedding fashion shoots and I use my experience working and directing models to put a creative twist on the small, micro and intimate weddings I shoot. Less people means more time to have fun and go on an adventure. Dancing in the rain, rock climbing, wild swimming, snowboarding down a snowy mountain - all of these things would be epic moments to capture in your wedding film.

If you are debating whether to use Capture Weddings for your wedding, do not hesitate - it's one of the best decisions we've ever made.” (listen to Dave - his was the WWE themed wedding I filmed which went viral and was shown on Love Stories TV)
